Can I use PayPal to fund an online betting account from Canada?
Unfortunately for Canadians the answer is ‘no’, there are no PayPal betting sites for Canadians. PayPal is probably the most popular way to transfer money and pay for things online. Although some sportsbooks accept PayPal and display their logo as a mark of acceptance to process deposits and withdrawals customer accounts, this is only actually available for sportsbook customers in certain European countries. PayPal’s internal policies dictate that it will not process transactions for Canadians to betting sites or other types of online gaming like poker or casino sites.

If you’ve ever used the Interac Email Transfer from your online banking profile and like its simplicity and it is available at several betting sites including Sports Interaction below.
If you would like the transaction to go on your credit card directly, you may use them with the sportsbook but all Canadian Credit Card companies view online betting transactions as cash advances, which means there are interest charges from the time of the transaction. Alternatively, you can use your card as the original funding source but avoid cash advance charges, maintain privacy and security of your card with services called Entropay and EcoCard. These services allow you to prepaid and/or virtual Visa and MasterCard cards respectively. Since the prepaid card is what is being directly transacted with the online sportsbook, you will avoid making the direct “cash advance” transaction directly with your credit card. In addition, your statement won’t show the gaming company itself but rather Entropay or EcoCard. ClickandBuy is another service that allows you to pay with or link your credit card to your account with them to experience these same benefits. With ClickandBuy, you can also link a bank account thus it is probably the most similar to PayPal in capability. Instadebit is similar to ClickandBuy but it is solely focused on linking your bank account to their service for betting transactions.
If you prefer, you can transfer money directly from your bank to these betting sites through your bank. It is extremely secure and there are essentially no transaction limits. The betting site will display their bank details and a reference number, you simply share this information with your bank and the transfer will be completed in a few days. Bodog is the only sportsbook in the world that accepts Interac money transfers which is less expensive than a wire transfer at about $1 or so per transfer.
